The USB-UIRT is a IR transceiver made by Jon Rhees. It has the ability to receive codes in UIR or raw mode. LIRC supports it in the most recent version.
The feature that made me most interested is its ability to wake-up the host computer via a couple user-definable IR codes. I made available a Perl script I wrote to configure this feature:
